International Masonry Institute Workshop 2024

On July 29, 2024, the International Masonry Institute, in collaboration with The Association for Facilities Engineering, hosted a masonry restoration workshop focused on hands-on training and industry best practices.


Workshop Highlights

The event featured four specialized workshop areas, covering essential restoration techniques:


Mortar Extraction & Pointing

  • Techniques for mortar removal using mechanical and hand tools, including depth-preserving units.


Lintel Repair, Flashing & Bricklaying

  • Proper steel preparation, flashing installation, and accessory integration.


Masonry Patching & Repairs

  • Overview of anchor types, testing methods, and key considerations for durable repairs.


Anchoring, Stabilization & Sealants

  • Application of sealants, backer rods, and testing procedures for structural integrity.

Continuing Education Credit

Participants received a completion certificate for 2.0 hours of continuing education, applicable for self-reporting.
