RestoreWorks selected to help with Navy Pier restoration project.

RestoreWorks performs critical maintenance to Navy Pier buildings

For many years, RestoreWorks has helped preserve and enhance some of Chicago's most iconic buildings.  Our expertise in masonry restoration and maintenance services led to our selection to provide assistance with the restoration of Navy Pier.   The goal of the project was to address known water leaks and take preventative measures to avoid future leaks.

Project work required significant coordination with Navy Pier management to minimize impact to scheduled conferences and events.  Over the eight-month project, RestoreWorks performed work on nearly all parts of the pier including the Headhouse, Family Pavillion, Crystal Garden, Festival Hall, Terminal Building, and Ballroom.

Navy Pier scope of work performed by RestoreWorks included:

  • Rebuilding the East end ballroom brick parapets
  • Resetting brick
  • Installing thru-wall flashing
  • Removing and resetting masonry to access deteriorated steel
  • Repairing original structural steel

  • Tuckpointing
  • Caulking
  • Installing 12,000 feet of silicone sealant on Crystal Garden glass dome
